Few FAQs or Terms you might wonder to know:
What is IPO?
When a private firm or a public firm first sells shares of stock to the general public, this procedure is known as an initial public offering (IPO). In essence, an IPO signifies that a company’s ownership is shifting from private ownership to public ownership. After IPO the company shares are traded freely on exchange.
What is Book Building Method?
Book building is the process through which a Merchant Banking or Issue Manager attempts to identify the price at which an initial public offering (IPO) will be made. A Book building has transcended the ‘fixed pricing’ method, where the price is set before investor involvement, to become the de facto process by which firms price their IPOs. The process of price discovery entails generating and recording investor demand for shares before arriving at an issue price that will satisfy both the firm offering the IPO and the market. It is strongly recommended by all the major stock exchanges as the most effective approach to price equities. In the case of under subscription, the merchant bank will pay the amount fixed to buy the shares.
