There is a total of 77 districts in Nepal we have listed all the 77 districts of Nepal province-wise. As per article 56 (3) of the constitution, There shall be Provinces consisting of the Districts referred to in Schedule4 existing in Nepal at the time of commencement of this Constitution. This constitution means constitution 2072 which is prevailing now in our country. So Schedule 4 of the constitution 2072 talks about provinces and 77 districts of Nepal. Before that, Nepal used to have 75 districts, and later Rukum and Nawalparasi were divided as separate districts. So, now we have two Rukum and Nawalparasi in Province 5 (Lumbini) and Province 6 (Karnali).

There are a total of 14 districts in province 1 and the capital is Biratnagar. This province is yet to get its Name and we call this province 1.
Districts of Province 2 (Madhesh Pradesh)
There are a total of 8 districts in province 2 and the capital is Janakpur. This province is named Madhesh Pradesh and is one of the smallest Pradesh by area.
Districts of Province 3 (Bagmati Pradesh)
There are a total of 13 districts in province 3 and the capital is Hetauda. This province is named Bagmati Pradesh and the 3 smallest districts of Nepal are in this Pradesh. Bhaktapur, Lalitpur & Kathmandu are the three smallest districts of Nepal.
Districts of Province 4 (Gandaki Pradesh)
There are a total of 11 districts in province 4 and the capital is Pokhara. This province is named Gandki Pradesh and this is the turist province. Most of the beatuful sites are here in this Gandaki Pradesh.

There are a total of 12 districts in province 5 and the capital is Butwal. This province is named Lumbini Pradesh and in this province, changes were made as discussed above.

There are a total of 10 districts in province 6 and the capital is Birendranagar. This province is named Karnali Pradesh and in this province also changes were made as discussed above. This is also the largest province of Nepal and the largest district of Nepal by area Dolpa is in this province.

There are a total of 9 districts in province 7 and the capital is Dhangadi. This province is named Sudur Paschim Pradesh and in this province also changes were made as discussed above. This province is also in the news because of MAP, Disputed land of Nepal was added to the map by the then Prime Minister KP Oli Sharma. Darchula district’s importance increased after this development and will be asked in Loksewa exam.
