The Institute of Forestry, Pokhara Campus, also known as IOF-PC, was founded in 1981 A.D. as the Institute of Forestry’s Central Campus, one of Tribhuvan University’s five technical institutes. IOF was established in 1947 A.D., as the Nepal Forestry Institute at Singh Durbar, Kathmandu, and later relocated to Suping (BhimPhedi) in 1957 A.D., and Hetauda in 1965. The Institute of Forestry (IOF) was administered by the Department of Forests until July 1972 A.D., when it was absorbed into Tribhuvan University and renamed the Institute of Forestry.

The IOF established the Institute of Forestry, Pokhara Campus, to fulfill the country’s expanding demand for qualified and competent natural resource managers. Further. the IOF-PC offers two academic programs: a two-year Technical Certificate in Forestry (TCF) and a three-year Bachelor of Science in Forestry (B.Sc.F). Kathmandu Forestry College

KAFCOL, also known as Kathmandu Forestry College, is a successful and emerging academic institution (a public enterprise) in Koteshwor, Kathmandu, Nepal. Since its inception in 2005 A.D., the College has offered a B.Sc. Forestry program in collaboration with Nepal’s Tribhuvan University. The Nepal Agroforestry Foundation and a group of like-minded professionals and academicians established Kathmandu Forestry College (KAFCOL) to promote quality education and research in the fields of forestry and natural resource management in Nepal. However, over the years, KAFCOL has grown steadily.

Currently, it runs three academic programs:

  • Sc. Forestry (with the affiliation from the Tribhuvan University, Nepal)
  • The Diploma in Forestry (with affiliation from the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), Government of Nepal)

Institute of Forestry, Hetauda Campus

Tribhuvan University’s Institute of Forestry (IOF) is Nepal’s sole professional-level training and workforce preparation institution in the field of forestry and allied natural resource management. IOF now has two campuses, one in Pokhara and the other in Hetauda, where academic programs like the Technical Certificate in Forestry, Bachelor of Science in Forestry, and Master of Forest Science are offered. IOF has expanded and added nine master’s degree programs, as well as M.Phil. and Ph.D.

In 2010, the Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) was founded in Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal, as the country’s first technical university.
