Making Driving License Exam Easier | Bagmati Province Implements ’70 Points’ System

Beginning on December 4, 2022, the “70-points” system will be used in the driver’s license trial examination in Bagmati Province.

The Driver’s License Examination Procedures Directive (2077), issued by the Department of Transport Management, established the points-based system.

Bagmati Province postponed its introduction because of technical preparations. In July 2021, the point-based system was supposed to go into force.

A candidate can now pass the exam for a driving license by scoring 70 out of 100 on the practical tests (trials).

A total of 100 points are weighted equally for both two- & four-wheelers and are divided into seven categories.

The “Figure 8” exam will only worth up to 20 points under the new regulations. You won’t score as failing even if your vehicle crosses a numbered line during the exam.

However, you will each lose 5 points if you contact the numbered line twice. Similar to this, you will fail if you step on the ground more than once, your vehicle’s tire crosses the specified line, you touch the boundary line more than twice, you form a figure eight in the wrong direction or the wrong manner, or your vehicle is switched off.

Narrow Plank

There are 10 points on this test. If you step on the ground or abandon the board before you cross it, you will fail the entire exam.

Traffic Signals

The “traffic signals” exam received a 15-point rating. If you ignore the traffic lights, you will loss all 15 points.

U-Turn

There are 10 points on this test. If you forget to trigger the indicators or touch the marked line, the entire test becomes a failure.

Speed breaker/Bumps

There are 15 points on this test. You will each lose 5 points if you step on the ground or switch off your vehicle. You will fail the entire exam if you repeatedly do any of these things.

Ramp

The applicant will be rejected from the ramp test, which comprises of 20 points, if their vehicle stops beyond the designated border, misses the boundary, crosses the designated boundary, or is switched off.

Behavioral aspect

The behavioral component of the applicant has been given a score of 10. If you drive carelessly, fail to calibrate your vehicle before you drive, or fail to wear your helmet correctly, you will lose points.

For Four- Wheelers

The “Figure 8” test will award a maximum of 20 points. You won’t score as failing even if your vehicle crosses a numbered line during the exam. And You will each lose 5 points if you contact the numbered line twice.

You will be deemed to have failed if you contact the boundary line more than twice, if a tire on your vehicle extends over the line that has been designated, if you do not create a figure eight in the proper direction or manner, or if you reverse your vehicle rather than moving ahead.

Speed breaker/bumps

There are 10 points on this test. You will lose 5 points if you switch off your vehicle once. You will flunk the entire exam if you repeatedly do any of those things.

U-Turn

There are 10 points on this test. If you fail to activate the indicators or touch the designated line, the entire test will be a failure.

Traffic indicators

The “traffic signals” exam received a 15-point rating. If you ignore the traffic lights, you will forfeit all 15 points.

Ramp

The ramp test, which consists of 15 points, will result in the applicant being rejected if their vehicle stops beyond the designated border, misses the boundary, crosses the boundary, or turns off.

Parking in garage

There are 20 points on this test. You lose ten points each if the vehicle reverses while moving ahead or reaches the designated line. You will fail the entire exam if you carry out these acts more than once.

A behavioral element

The behavioral component of the applicant has been given a score of 10. If you drive recklessly, fail to properly fasten your seatbelt while driving, or do any of these things, you will lose points.
