B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) is a Nepalese Independent health sciences university. It is located in the sub-metropolitan city of Dharan in the Sunsari District. The Institute is a Nepal-India cooperation. It started on January 18, 1993, A. D. This institution aims to develop a workplace that is socially responsible and competent in the health field and to participate in both creative health research and care delivery. By teaching district concepts to Primary Health Care Centers, District Hospitals, and Zonal Hospitals in several districts throughout the area, the Institute, lies in Eastern Nepal and is providing continuous health services.
The BPKIHS offers doctoral-level programs in philosophy as well as undergraduate, graduate, and academic diploma courses. It has four colleges: medical, dental, nursing, and public health, as well as a 700-bed Central Teaching Hospital. The main departments of clinical and fundamental science at the medical college have a strong foundation.

B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) is named after Bisheshwar Prasad Koirala, a visionary leader for social uplift and active supporter of national unity in Nepal. It become an autonomous Health Sciences University on October 28, 1998 A.D. One of the successful examples of cooperation between Nepal and India is this Institute. On the important Hindu holiday of Mahashivaratri, the health ministers of the two nations signed the Indo-Nepal agreement to establish the BPKIHS (Mar 10, 1994). The goal of BPKIHS is to create an international health sciences university that is self-governing and self-sufficient and welcomes professors and students from all over the world to its constantly reducing academic programs.
