International Youth Day 2021

The United Nations by the recommendation of the UN General Assembly declared August 12 as International Youth Day in 1999. Ever since every year on the 12th of August, the world has been celebrating International Youth Day. On this day the government and citizens across the globe congregate to commemorate youths. This day all the voices of youth are amplified through campaigns, concerts, rallies, etc. This day the mainstream voices, actions, and initiatives of the youth are brought into the limelight to draw the attention of the government & international communities to tackle issues faced by youth in the socio-economic & political sphere.

Every year United Nation come up with themes to celebrate this day focusing on a specific issue. The last year 2020 the theme for the Youth Day was “Youth Engagement for Global Action” this year 2021 the theme for Youth Day is “Transforming Food System: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”

Youths are the ones who tackle issues at the local, regional, national, and global levels. This day is strongly dedicated to youths and the role they play in introducing change in global issues and attaining sustainable development. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted all aspects of our lives and youths across the globe have been working relentlessly to make the government & citizens responsible to stop this virus from spreading and affecting lives.

This day is also an effort to acknowledge the contribution of youths that fuels the growth & change despite the pandemic. I hope on the occasion of International Youth Day we will unite & explore new possibilities & potential for the holistic development of the whole world. The future of our human civilization rest upon the youths. I hope we all will celebrate this day with immense pride and vigor. Happy International Youth Day 2021.
