Crisis management allows organizations dead from a disruptive and sudden event that may harm them or their stakeholders. Crisis management is a crucial process in public relations.
Unlike the ‘risk management’ which involves assessing the potential threats and finding the best solutions to avoid them, ‘crisis management involves dealing with threats before, during, and after they have occurred.
Similarly, the study of crisis management equips skills and techniques that teach individuals to identify, assess, understand, and cope with a difficult situation from the moment it first occurs up to the point its recovery process starts.
In Nepal, crisis management is taught only at the Master’s level with the name – Master in Crisis Management Studies. The Institute of Crisis Management Studies (ICMS) offers this course under the affiliation of Tribhuvan University (TU).
