Nepal Sanskrit University, formerly Mahendra Sanskrit University, was established in 1986 under the Mahendra Sanskrit Act 2043 with the goals of standardizing Sanskrit education, preserving, and promoting its achievements, and also developing Nepal into a center for learning Sanskrit language and literature.
Nepal Sanskrit University is Nepal’s second national university. In classical and modern Sanskrit, the university provides Intermediate (Uttar Madhyama), bachelor (Shastri), master (Acharya), and Doctoral courses. It also offers Ayurvedic Medicine Intermediate Courses and Ayurvedacharya Condensed Courses. This institution was founded to provide individuals, particularly experts from other countries, with a comprehensive understanding of Sanskrit and to grow Nepal as a Sanskrit learning destination.
