History of Central Campus of Technology
Central Campus of Technology is located in Dharan. After change in Nepal’s educational system in 1971 (2028 B.S. ), Tribhuvan University was set up as the national center for all of the nation’s higher education institutions. The Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IASTEC), later became the foundation of Nepal’s Food Technology program, and was started in Dharan in 1973 A.D.
Beginning in 1973, certificate programs in Food Technology and Laboratory Technology was running in the specific initiatives of the previous minister of education, the late Hiralal Vishwakarma (Shrawan 1, 2030 B. S.).Mr. Yagya Prasad’s home at Dharan-16, which is a private high school now, was the institute building in July 1, 1973, as the institute didn’t have its own building at that time. There was academic programs in 4 relevant technologies: Laboratory technology, Food technology, Fat/oil, and Soap Technology and Environment Technology. There was also short-term courses for sugar, cigarettes, Jute, Chemical fertilizer, Paper, and pulp, Dairy, etc industries.
