BSc Agriculture in Nepal is a famous course, among many others. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSc Agriculture) is a four-year degree program. It consists of eight semesters. This course has a total of 167 credit hours. The first three years comprise general agricultural courses. The final year compromises elective agricultural courses where a student can specialize according to their interest area.

BSC Agriculture (BSc AG) is a curriculum offered by the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS). It is an autonomous academic center of Tribhuvan University that offers a BSc in Agriculture in Nepal. IAAS is dedicated to providing advanced education in the fields of agricultural science, animal sciences, veterinary medicine, and more. Through competent human resource development, the institute has demonstrated its academic superiority in the realm of agricultural science.

BSc AG course aims to strike a good balance between theoretical and practical knowledge. BSc students are taught both technical and non-technical courses. In general, BSc emphasizes emerging needs in the agricultural sector. It comprises of innovative teaching methodology. It makes students carry out research and field visits.

BSc AG imparts dynamic knowledge regarding various agricultural disciplines, such as Forestry, Farm Management, Agricultural Sales, Animal Science, Agricultural Engineering, Soil Science, Agricultural Business, Plant Protection, Food Science, and more. Eligibility for BSc Agriculture in general:

  1. Students must have either a +2 qualification in science or “Intermediate in Agriculture of Agriculture in Plant science” (I.Sc.Ag).
  2. For +2 students Minimum C Grade on all subjects and average C+ in aggregate.
  3. I.Sc.Ag students must have studied compulsory English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and have received a minimum of 50% in aggregate from Tribhuvan University or other recognized universities and boards.
  4. A-Level students must have chosen Physic, Biology, Chemistry, as their subject combination.
  5. Candidates appearing for the entrance exam must score at least 50%

Fee Structure of BSc Agriculture:

Government colleges are far cheaper than private colleges. The BSc in Agriculture can be studied for a minimum of 3 lakhs to a maximum of 8 Lakhs. However, there are scholarships for exceptional students, and seats are reserved in each college for scholarships.

Among the AFU-affiliated colleges the Central campus, Rampur, Chitwan offers 78 seats for a full scholarship and 47 seats for paying. For paying the fee structure is between 2.5 to 3 lakhs.

The CNRM campuses offer up to 30 seats for full scholarships.

 

Entrance examinations:

Agriculture & Forestry University (AFU): 

To get into AFU-affiliated colleges a candidate has to pass the entrance examination. The entrance exam of AFU is conducted in Rampur. The entrance exam consists of a total of 120 Questions. After calculating the marks obtained by individual students, they will be placed into different colleges. Following are the number of questions that are asked during the entrance examination :

English: Total of 21 questions

Chemistry: A total of 15 questions

Botany: Total of 21 questions

Mathematics: A total of 15 questions

Zoology: A total of 21 questions

Physics: A total of 21 questions

General Knowledge & Agriculture:  A total of 6 questions

Tribhuvan University: 

The entrance exam of Tribhuvan University is conducted in Kritipur. Following are the number of questions that are asked during the entrance examination:

English: Total of 15 questions

Chemistry: A total of 15 questions

Botany: A total of 15 questions

Mathematics: A total of 15 questions

Zoology: A total of 15 questions

Physics: A total of 15 questions

General Knowledge:  Total 5 questions
