Exam to Improve Grades: Over 56,000 Students to Take Part

Over 56,000 pupils will take the grade improvement test this year. Due to Covid-19, the board has discontinued providing test questions from the 2077 academic year. As a consequence, the test centers print and distribute the question papers once they are received online.

2078 Revised Letter Grading Standards: A Benefit for 58,000 Students

The government’s updated Letter Grading Guideline 2078 helped 58,000 students who earned NG (non-graded) in more than two topics the previous academic year. According to the guidelines, only the subjects in which NG has been acquired should be examined. However, only the courses in which they obtained NG will be available for pupils to sit the test.

Students failing in two or fewer subjects may take exams for three years, according to an amendment to the rule.

Students who fail two or fewer topics will only be permitted to retake tests in those subjects in which they fail in the same year or higher for the next three years, according to a decision made at the ministerial level conference.

According to the board, the purpose of this modification is to stop dropouts after the 12th grade.

Mahashram Sharma, the chairman of the National Examination Board, explained that the decision was made to stop students from dropping out after class 12 because some find it difficult to repeat the same class or sit for the exam in all subjects when they receive NG in more than two subjects. As a result, they stop studying.

New criteria: The government of Nepal has established new criteria for the grade improvement tests for students in class 12. The new Letter Grading Guideline, 2078, says that students who obtained an NG (Non-Grade) can only take the grade improvement test in those courses in an effort to reduce dropout rates.
